As we all know, Japan is a really beloved country in America (Nitro Type's main demographic). I think this is for many reasons, more than just anime which you might assume. Japan is rich with cultural and technological things to pull from for items and the fact it is such a different culture makes it feel like a very distinct theme. Additionally, some items in the game can return here to lighten the load on the admins. Some ideas for this event include:

Super wampus (a sticker of the wampus with a super saiyan-like aura)
OK (sticker of the nt racer drawn very low quality saying OK. reference to one punch man)

Trails:
Scrolling japanese text (reference to NICONICO social media where users commenting on a livestream have their text scroll over it)
Cherry blossoms
Furry companion (springachu following your car)
Sushi trail (returning)

Flurry of shurikens
Energy wave (returning)

"Lend me your WPM!" (dragon ball reference)
"The power of friendship" (could be for adding friends during the event)
"King of the racers" (one piece reference)

Perhaps a cherry blossom track even? That would look very pretty!
And finally, a suggestion for one of the descriptions for an item which I thought would be really funny since I hear people say it all the time: "Why does Japan get all the cool stuff?"
